'Fairy Wings' Lusterware Wide Rim Bowl

$158.00

Lovingly hand built from earthenware clay, this beautiful wide rim bowl was decorated with unique artist made luster glazes, and put through a complex firing process to achieve this subtle & rare in-glaze luster finish, on a functional vessel. During the firing the metallic components of the glaze are drawn to the surface, forming a thin shimmering layer. The intricacy of this technique, influenced by numerous variables, ensures each pedestal bowl is utterly unique and unrepeatable. This piece has a finish reminiscent of fairy wings, with a light crackle on the rim and outside, and subtle iridescence through a melting pastel color palette.

With its delicate play of color and luster, this graceful form adds elegance to any space. Employ it as a fruit bowl or serving bowl, or leave it empty to display and admire its stunning interior.

This lusterware bowl is a testament to the beauty of lovingly handcrafted, artisan made ceramics. Its one off nature makes it a true collector's item and a cherished addition to your collection.

Each NM bowl is a unique, one of a kind, functional piece of art.

Size: 11.5” x 11.5” x 4”

Notes on caring for Functional Lusterware…

  • Each piece is made from earthenware and any unglazed areas are also coated in a liquid quartz finish for a water tight, antimicrobial seal.

  • All glazes I use are food safe by FDA standards, but each piece contains a different combination of glazes, and they are not individually tested for dinnerware durability.

  • Hand wash only with a soft sponge.

  • Do not microwave.

* The finish of luster glazes makes them very tricky to photograph. I’ve done my best to represent each piece authentically, to the best of my ability. Part of the delight and adventure of purchasing one of these pieces will be viewing them in real life, and noticing how they change in different lighting and when viewed from varied perspectives.
